The Guard: Low-profile IR light headgear
The main product is a slim plastic sleeve that attaches to the brim of a hat, and once turned on emits an array of Infrared light from several LED lights attached to the bottom of the sleeve meant to completely conceal ones identity from IR cameras. some variation of LED's and even adding randomized flashes to increase obfuscation from different lights and camera analysis techniques. it can be removed from hats to be able to switch between hats in the case security conscious customers want to add variability to their headgear.
That's a pretty saucy idea. It reminds me of Spy Kids or Inspector gadget or something. It's getting increasingly hard to have any privacy these days, so many people would probably embrace a product designed to maintain one's anonymity. I'm not so sure how stylish it would be but then again people that are that concerned with keeping privacy may not be the most fashion-forward anyway.
ReplyDeleteHey Daniel, I’m curious – are these lights visible to everyone, or only IR cameras? That may be a silly question, but I wasn’t sure if the flashing lights would be visible to the naked eye. I like that it can be removed from the hat and switched to a different one, and it sounds like it should have a slim profile, which will make it less obvious.
ReplyDeleteHi Christina! Infrared light is in the spectrum of lightwaves that are imperceptible to the human eye, so there would be almost no way any human with functional eyesight to be effected from flashing. Not an obvious thing and maybe the flashing will cause the led lights to seem to be pulsing slightly from the electrical current but good question!
DeleteDaniel,
ReplyDeleteLike I said before, I'm a big fan of this idea. I think the privacy market has the potential to really rake in some revenue; mom's all over the map are always stressing about things like this. I also think that the feature of being able to put the equipment on your own apparel is a smart move.
